Set up and function
The Wyssen W-40 cable winch is practically identical to the W-30. The difference is that the W-40 has higher side-walls, which allows a larger cable drum to be fitted with a higher cable holding capacity. The cable winch is mainly used like the W-30 as a driving unit in the wood and forest industries as well as in the construction industry. It is ideally suitable for long-distance cableways together with our carriage HY-4 or slackpuller carriage and our MSK2 motorised skyline crane up to load capacities of 40 kN/4 t. When fitted with a grooved pulley or capstan ring, the W-40 cable winch can also perform valuable work as a circular drive wheel for a material cableway. The standard motor is the Deutz turbo-diesel motor with 55kW, which is ideally suitable for uphill or downhill transport with load capacities of 40 kN/4 t. If a higher performance is required, the cable winch is also available with a powerful Deutz turbo-diesel motor with 129 kW, with which heavy loads can be transported uphill at a high speed. The high-performance Deutz turbo-diesel motor is controlled electronically, which together with our specially developed control system with display, means that the system can be operated semi-automatically. Supports and end-points can be entered, so that the cable crane automatically slows down when passing the supports and stops at the end-points. The W-40 is also available with an electric motor and our modern control system. If required the cable winch can also be radio-controlled, depending on the application. The W-40 cable winch is modular in construction, as are all Wyssen cable winches, so that it can be adapted to the individual requirements of each customer.
W-40 75KW (102 HP) VW Turbo Diesel Engine
The Wyssen W-40 cable winch with a 75 kW (102PS) VW turbo diesel engine excels with its high performance and low weight. It is optimally suited for long-distance cableways for transporting loads uphill or downhill with the Wyssen HY-4 carriage and slack-puller and also for the motorised skyline crane with load capacities of 40 kN. The cable winch, which weighs only 1690 kg, can be quickly and easily separated into two parts (chassis and engine), so that the cable winch can also be transported with smaller helicopters. The chassis is identical to the conventional W-40 cable winch. The cable winch is driven by the powerful VW turbo diesel engine and Rexroth hydraulic system. In comparison with the conventional W-40 cable winch with the same weight, it has a significantly higher travelling speed. The cable winch with a high cable capacity is predominantly used as a drive unit in the wood and forest industries as well as in the construction industry and can be used as a continuous drive for material cableways like all Wyssen cable winches. The W-40 cable winch is modular in construction, as are all Wyssen cable winches, so that it can be adapted to the individual requirements of each customer.
